what the camera does, exactly
While you measure, each video frame is shrunk to a 64×48 thumbnail inside your browser's memory, averaged into a single redness value, and immediately released. No frame is ever saved, displayed elsewhere, or transmitted. When the reading finishes or you press stop, the camera is turned off. pulsebycam is a static site — there is no backend, so there is nowhere the video could go.
what gets stored, and where
Your saved readings (a date, a BPM, a signal score) live in your browser's local storage on your own device. They never sync anywhere. You can export them as CSV or erase them all from your log, and clearing your browser data removes them too.
what we don't do
- No analytics scripts, no trackers, no advertising pixels.
- No accounts, no cookies of our own, no fingerprinting.
- No selling of anything — there's nothing collected to sell.
the small print that remains
The Quicksand font loads from Google Fonts, so your browser makes one request to Google's font servers, which sees your IP address the way any web request does. Our hosting provider (Cloudflare Pages) serves the files and keeps ordinary server logs. That's the entire cast of third parties.
